The tradition of giving flowers has been around for ages, literaly. Symbolic use of flowers can be seen in Roman mythology, ancient Chinese writings and even Egyptian heiroglyphs. The custom took off in the middle ages as part of the courtship process and continues until this day. Today, we send flowers for all occasions and have many options from where to get them. Some of the best places online are ProFlowers and FTD.

What should you send??? Here’s a quick quide:

Valentines Day - Roses, Roses, Roses! Nothing else needs to be said except mabye Red.

Birthday - Anything Bright and cheerful. The favorite flower of the recipient is always a perfect choice.

Anniversary - Most anything goes here. Try and match the “personality” of the couple to the flowers. A surprise would be ideal.

Wedding - Seasonal flowers! Pastel, light flowers usually work best early in the year while darker, more bold colors work best in the fall.

Christmas - You can’t go wrong with a poinsettia. For flowers, stick with white and red (or pink) and make sure there is plenty of green in the arangement. Including holly (with red berries) is great.

Thanksgiving - Lots of orange and brown. Include roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, daises, marigolds, monte casino, wheat and dried grasses.

Halloween - Oranges and browns again. Maybe send a jack-o-lantern as a vase???
